Best For Engines

Welcome to Best For Engines describing the benefits and advantages of using AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants. AMSOIL has been manufacturing synthetic lubricants since 1972 and is the leader in synthetic technology. AMSOIL's main goal is to manufacture the best synthetic lubricants possible for most types of engines. If you care about your car, truck, motorcycle, lawn equipment, marine engine you will want to use AMSOIL because it prolongs the life and makes the engine more efficient in it's day-to-day operation.

Do You Care About Your Engine

AMSOIL is a company that cares. The products they make are simply the best. Why buy an expensive car, motorcycle, truck, lawn mower and not put a quality lubricant inside the engine. Using AMSOIL products makes the engine last and allows it to run at peak operation efficiency.

Increases Gas Mileage

AMSOIL Motor Oils reduce friction and drag better than petroleum oils, resulting in significant fuel economy increases. In a recent 1.2 million mile demonstration, AMSOIL Lubricants showed a 4.5% increase in gas mileage. Other tests have shown increases of as much as 15% under certain weather and driving conditions. Yet, because every vehicle is different, as are driving habits and conditions, it is difficult to accurately project an exact increase.

Extended Drain Intervals

Using AMSOIL products allows you to extend your drain intervals. AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils are highly resistant to the destructive effects of heat, and do not break down like petroleum oils. This means that AMSOIL Motor Oils can provide much longer drain intervals than conventional lubricants. Most of us were all raised to change our oil every 3000 miles of driving. Using petroleum oils, this is mandatory. Petroleum oils start burning off at much lower temperature. Since petroleum oils are a natural product made up of both small and large molecules, the small molecules start burning off first leaving just the large molecules. This is the beginning of how sludge forms in an engine. Since AMSOIL's base is a polyalphaolefin (PAO), temperature burn off is at a much higher temperature. Since all the molecules are virtually the same size, if burn off does occur it is not affected like petroleum oils. With added detergents in AMSOIL, you engine remains sludge free. AMSOIL lubricants are designed to go 25,000 and 35,000 miles or one year between oil changes. Using our 25,000 mile one year oil filters, most of my customers change their oil just once a year. Two other benefits that are derived from AMSOIL's extended drain capabilities are close to me. One is our dependence on foreign oil. If we were not so dependent on foreign oil, our great country would not be having the political problems we are having right now with the middle east. If you drive 25,000 miles per year and changing your oil every 3000 miles and have a 6 quart capacity engine, you are using 48 quarts of oil per year versus 6 quarts using AMSOIL. That is a savings of 42 quarts per year. If you own 2 cars, that is 84 quarts. The second point is an environmental one. In the above example we are having to recycle (if the used oil even makes it to the recycling plant and not dumped somewhere) 42 quarts of oil plus 7 used oil filters that will probably end up in our landfill. So by switching to AMSOIL you will be protecting your engine better and not damaging our fragile planet by using and wasting more of its natural resources.

Why Use AMSOIL Products ?

I have to assume you are interested in keeping your engine in top-notch shape. Using AMSOIL products provides the following:

  • Superior Wear Protection
  • Superior Oxidation Resistance
  • Superior Operating Temperature Range
  • Superior Fuel Mileage
  • Superior Stability
  • Extended Drain Intervals
  • Superior Fluidity

AMSOIL Reduces Operating Costs

  • Extended Drain Intervals
  • Better Fuel Mileage
  • Keeps Engines Running Longer
  • Resale Values Generally Increase when Using AMSOIL

Have You Purchased a New Vehicle and Want it to Last

AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil can be used during break-in trouble free. In fact, vehicles such as Dodge Viper and Chevrolet Corvette come factory filled with synthetic oil. Since most new vehicles come filled with petroleum oil, it only makes good sense to change to AMSOIL at the first scheduled oil change interval. New engine components generate high levels of wear metals and can contain contaminants from assembly. By allowing the engine to operate with the petroleum oil until the first oil/filter change interval, the wear metals and contaminants are removed prior to installing AMSOIL.

Want to Make your Present Vehicle Last Longer?

Don't wait. The longer you use petroleum oil in your engine, the more wear and tear you will encounter. In cars that have over 15,000 miles on them, use a can of AMSOIL engine flush for every 5 quarts of engine oil prior to installing AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants. This will clean your engine in preparation for the AMSOIL. It is best to put on a new oil filter before putting in the engine flush.

All Synthetics Are Not the Same

Just because the label on a can of oil says it is synthetic mean it is as good as AMSOIL. AMSOIL only puts the finest base oils and additives in their lubricants. Millions of dollars are spent on research and development so we can remain the Leader In Synthetic Technology. This is some information on how ‘SYNTHETICS' can be different. Group III base oils are highly processed oils and were classified as synthetic in 1999.That year, the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus ruled in a complaint by Mobil Oil Corp. against Castrol North America Inc. Castrol claimed its product, Syntec, was a synthetic oil even though it had used Group III base oils since 1997. The ruling by NAD said Castrol presented evidence that constitutes a reasonable basis for the claim that Syntec, a Group III based formulation, is synthetic motor oil. Once this happened most synthetics became this lesser quality. Initially, the decision by NAD shocked the lubricant industry. However, many studies show that Synthetic Group III base oils have been completely changed and converted and are significantly different from traditional Group I mineral oils. They have come to be recognized in the industry and by consumers as synthetic. One of the big problems with Group III base oils is the lack of consistency from one manufacturer to another. While the physical properties may meet performance parameters, the performance characteristics can vary widely. That's because of differences in the crude oil and the different processes used to refine the crude into Group III base stocks. It's quite different from PAO production where the properties and performance are fairly consistent between manufacturers. AMSOIL does market a GF-3 synthetic oil called the XL Series.. But again it is far superior to the other manufacturers using the synthetic name on their label. AMSOIL has selected the best quality Group III base oils and spiked them with oxidation inhibitors and TBN. They have more gusto than other Group III oils and are fully formulated for 7,500-mile drain intervals. Our other synthetic oils are truly superior to the GF-3 oils. They are the very best quality synthetic motor oils, formulated for 25,000-mile,or one-year, drain intervals. Our main line motor oils are the premier, top quality oils on the market and that is where they will stay. Unlike the competition that considers Synthetic Group III a major step up in performance, our PAO-based motor oils are still the best.

AMSOIL Saves You Money

AMSOIL extended drain intervals mean fewer oil changes, long term savings and convenience

Example:

Conventional motor oil companies recommend 3,000-mile drain intervals

Conventional 10W-30 Motor Oil @ $1.50/qt. x 40 = $60.00 *(40 quarts needed for 25,000 miles)

8 Standard Oil Filters 8 Standard Oil Filters X 8 = $40.00

TOTAL $100.00

AMSOIL recommends 25,000-mile/1-year drain intervals

AMSOIL 10W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil @ $7.05/qt X 5 = $35.25

AMSOIL EaO Oil Filter @ $15.10 X 1 = $15.10

TOTAL $50.35

You save $49.65 per year using AMSOIL premium quality synthetic motor oil and oil filters. And at Preferred Customer Prices you would save even more. Even if you drive only 12,000 miles per year, the cost for AMSOIL is the same as you pay for petroleum oil now! But you still get better protection, lower engine temperatures, easier cold-weather starts and less engine wear. All of these benefits add up to an engine that will last longer and need fewer repairs. What could be more convenient and good for your vehicle, too? Also look at the savings you will get with better fuel economy. The advanced lubricity (slipperiness) of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants has been proven to increase fuel economy by 2-5%. AMSOIL reduces friction and allows your engine to use its heat-energy more efficiently. If a person averages more than 15,000 miles each year, and spends an average of $2.75 per gallon of gas, a 5% savings would be more than $82.00 per year (assuming an average of 25 mpg).

Environmental Aspects

Consider this: in 1993 an estimated 189.5 million motorized vehicles were on the road in the United States alone, and an estimated 700 million motorized vehicles were in operation throughout the world. If, by petroleum oil manufacturer's recommendations, these vehicles have their oil changed every 3,000 miles on an average five-quart system, almost 1 billion quarts of used oil will be generated each month. So are we drowning in oil? It is estimated at present that over 240 million gallons of oil are improperly discarded annually. Dumping 240 million gallons of oil is nearly the same as two Exxon Valdez spills each month. How dangerous is used oil? Just one quart can produce a two acre oil slick. One gallon of oil can make one million gallons of water too foul to drink and 35 ppm of oil will kill fish. Improperly disposed used oil is dangerous. Improperly dumped used oil seeps through landfills into ground water, disrupts bacterial digestion in sewer treatment plants and washes into lakes and harbors. At present, used motor oil is the largest single source of oil pollution in our nation's waterways. Certainly the first thing we can do is not create so much used oil to begin with, and we can recycle the used oil we have. Both synthetic and conventional motor oils can be recycled at any used oil recycling center

PREVENT BILLIONS OF QUARTS Of OIL FROM BEING DUMPED

Most automobile manufacturers recommend oil drain intervals of 3,000 to 6,000 miles for petroleum motor oils. AMSOIL recommends up to a 35,000-mile oil change which is 5 to 11 times fewer oil changes. Just think about the savings on the environment if, for example, the 135 million cars (excluding trucks, buses and taxis) in the United States were equipped with AMSOIL motor oil. Assuming an average service-life of 100,000 miles and an oil capacity of 5 quarts each, 11.4 billion to 22.3 billion quarts of used oil will be generated during a regular service lifetime (with regular oil changes every 3,000 to 6,000 miles). If you put 22.3 billion quarts of used oil into 55-gallon barrels and loaded them onto semi-trucks, a line of trucks would stretch end-to-end from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. and back to Los Angeles.

REDUCES EMISSIONS, INCREASES ENGINE LIFE

Each year nearly 600 million gallons of motor oil are burned and exit through the tailpipes of cars and trucks, creating emissions pollution. Petroleum oils volatilize (burn off) more readily than AMSOIL synthetic oils and create more emissions pollution. Of all the oils tested, AMSOIL shows dramatically less weight loss . . . less than half the weight loss of its closest counterpart. Some oils tested lost almost 20 percent of their weight. That means almost one fifth of the oil boils away and is released into the environment. For most cars, that's approximately a quart of oil being burned and expelled into nature. The thicker oil left behind after volatization contributes to damaging deposits, sticky piston rings and oil blow-by, all of which cause reduced engine life, reduced fuel economy and increased air pollution

Reduce Use of Foreign Oils

Industry tests have shown improved fuel economy of 2 - 5% in vehicles using synthetic lubricants. Many AMSOIL customer testimonials tell of even greater savings. If all cars in America used AMSOIL synthetic motor oil, gear lubes and drive train fluids, we would save enough fuel to drive to the sun and back 165 to 420 times over. But there is another way to reduce oil usage. AMSOIL synthetic motor oils are designed for extended drain intervals. Fewer oil changes means less oil used.
